It’s a battle against particles.
Most standard heating elements are a nightmare in these spaces. They off-gas or shed tiny micro-particles that you can’t even see, but they’ll absolutely wreck your wafers and optical components. We deal with this by sticking to high-purity fused quartz infrared (IR) lamps.

Why the quartz matters

We use synthetic fused quartz for the envelope. Why? Because it can take a massive thermal shock without cracking. More importantly, it doesn’t release those nasty volatile organic compounds (VOCs) when things get hot.
Cheap tubes are usually made of low-grade glass. Those tend to flake or outgas, which is the last thing you want. Our quartz is spec’d so that nothing sheds—not even during the initial ramp-up.
