Look, we don’t ship a single lamp tube unless it passes every single withstand voltage and insulation resistance test. Period. In a fab environment, a tiny electrical leak isn’t just a nuisance. It doesn’t just pop a fuse and call it a day. We’re talking about the kind of failure that scraps an entire batch of wafers or fries a piece of equipment that costs more than a house. That’s a nightmare nobody wants to deal with. Here is why we test every single unit. We use HiPot (dielectric withstand) testing to push the insulation way past its normal operating voltage. It’s basically a stress test to find the hidden stuff—like a microscopic pinhole in the quartz or a bit of dust on the electrodes that could trigger an arc. Then we check the insulation resistance to make sure the leakage current is exactly where it needs to be. If a tube fails? It goes in the trash. There is no “close enough” or “it’ll probably be fine” on our shop floor. The reality of electrical failure High-wattage heating elements live a hard life. They deal with extreme heat, over and over. That constant expanding and contracting can eventually create micro-cracks in the seal. We pick our materials to handle that stress, but let’s be honest—raw materials aren’t always perfect. By hitting the tube with a high-voltage test before it ever leaves our doors, we make sure the barrier is solid. It means you won’t be staring at a ground fault the moment you wire it into your system. A quick reality check Now, strict testing doesn’t make a tube immortal. You still have to look at the bigger picture. If your machine’s housing has bad ventilation, all that trapped heat will eventually eat away at your wiring insulation. It doesn’t matter how perfect the lamp was when it left the factory if the environment is cooking it. You’ve got to make sure your cooling can keep up with the heat density of the lamps.
